false teachers

Center for Disease Control director Dr Rochelle Walensky advocates for the mRNA vaccines against SARS-COV-2. She’s received five Covid vaccinations or boosters. Last week Dr Walensky tested positive for Covid—for a second time.

Have we gotten some false teaching about Covid?

With amazing (some say alarming) speed, pharmaceutical companies developed and mass produced mRNA vaccines for SARS-COV-2. Because of the pandemic, the FDA granted an Emergency Use Authorization in December 2020. However, that Authorization acknowledged there was no evidence the vaccine prevents transmission from person to person.

FDA adviser Dr Patrick Moore reported, “Pfizer has presented no data that the vaccine has any effect on virus carriage or shedding. We do not have any evidence that it will have an impact, social-wide, on the epidemic.”

In October 2022 testimony before the European Parliament, a company spokeswoman explained Pfizer never tested their vaccine for transmission. So the pharmaceutical companies and the FDA were transparent about mRNA vaccines.

But health care officials taught us that vaccines significantly reduce transmission. They used government agencies, medical providers and social media to convey that message.

The CDC now states only that the
vaccine helps protect you against potentially severe and long term illness. Clearly, there’s good medical reasons to get vaccinated. Turns out reducing transmission is not one of them.

This month the UC Davis Genome Center / Chan Zuckerberg Bio-hub reported no significant difference in viral load between vaccinated and unvaccinated people who tested positive for the delta variant of SARS-CoV-2. The August 2022 guidance from the CDC advised vaccinated and unvaccinated people no longer be subjected to different quarantine protocols.

The apostle Peter, of course, had nothing to say about Covid vaccines. He did warn against false teachers. He warned that the church or any institution that resorts to false teaching will fall into disrepute.

Peter offered eight signs of false teachers in the church. He warned that some would go so far as to deny Jesus’ lordship. Also, false teachers exploit others, want to be celebrities, abuse celestial beings, and fabricate stories. Peter said false teachers are arrogant, adulterous and greedy.

Personally, I’ve found they also reject all classic statements of faith. For false teachers, no creed they did not develop is good enough. They often insist others accept their teaching, and constantly argue for their own point of view.

As long as we live on this earth we’ll have to deal with false teachers. The apostle Peter offered a clear if somewhat unsatisfactory response to false teachers. Leave them to God’s judgment. Ignore them. If possible, avoid false teachers. If necessary, run. ~
