With his execution looming, the apostle Peter wrote a final message. The reader of 2Peter discovers what an apostle chosen by Jesus thought most important. Peter self-identified as a sinner and was the one who got out of the boat and walked on water. He was the first to identify Jesus as Messiah and God. Peter promised to be loyal to the death then denied knowing Jesus. He ran to investigate Jesus' empty tomb and was the first to publicly proclaim the Resurrection. He miraculously healed a paralytic, preached in a Roman soldier's home, recounted to Mark his time with Jesus. Now, Peter prepared to die for Jesus. ~
