God’s story, watchmen
12/18/2016 — Dan Nygaard
The Bible tells a wonderful, big story.
In God’s story, watchmen are commissioned to remind the people of God’s law,
challenging them to return to the Lord.
Biblical watchmen don’t see people as targets to hit with judgment.
Rather, we’re on the lookout to share out-of-this-world hope, joy, peace and love ~
God’s story, prophets
12/4/2016 — Dan Nygaard
As the people of God abandon His ways, they step away from divine blessing.
God sent prophets who warn of impending doom.
Counter-intuitively, their ministry was not about bringing people to repentance.
Rather, they produced a written record anticipating the divine future fix
for humanity’s deep, destructive, infectious problem ~
God’s story, failed kings
11/27/2016 — Dan Nygaard
In God’s story, the kings of Israel fail.
All of them.
Even David—although a famously successful ruler—failed as a father. That family failure planted seeds that produced a divided kingdom, the decay of their God designed culture,
and captivity ~
God’s story, choose whom you will serve
10/30/2016 — Dan Nygaard
God’s plan demands that you choose your response to God’s story.
People are not slaves to their genetic code.
Neither are we pre-destined to belief or disbelief.
And, in God’s plan you will be accountable for your choice ~
God’s story, creating counter-culture
10/16/2016 — Dan Nygaard
God alone provides the prescription for what’s destroying us.
But that prescription must be understood before it can be received.
God used living rooms
to create a counter-culture to communicate His saving prescription ~
